Terms of service
Last updated October 29, 2026
These terms cover using Paper Lantern Stories and buying a book from us. By making a preview or placing an order, you agree to them.
Paper Lantern Stories is run by Latitude Vntures LLC. Contact: hello@paperlanternstories.com.
Who can use the site
You must be 18 or older. The site is for adults making a book for a child, not for children to use themselves.
Photos and details you give us
- Only upload a photo of a child if you are their parent or guardian, or have that person's permission.
- Only upload photos you have the right to use, and nothing offensive or harmful.
- How we handle photos and personal details is explained in our privacy policy. In short: the photo is used once to draw the character and then deleted.
How the books are made
- The story is written and edited by us. The illustrations are created for each book with an AI image model, guided by our art style and checked for mistakes before you see them.
- Your child's character is a storybook-style drawing inspired by the photo or features you give us. It is not an exact likeness, and small details can vary between pages.
- You see the character, the cover and the first pages for free before you pay. Please check them carefully: they show the style and look of the whole book.
Orders and prices
- Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax and shipping are added at checkout, before you pay.
- Hardcovers ship to US addresses only, for now.
- Each book is personalized and made to order. Shipping and delivery times are on our shipping page, and what happens if something goes wrong is on our reprints and refunds page.
Who owns what
The story text, art style and illustrations belong to Latitude Vntures LLC. When you buy a book, you may keep, print and share it for your family's personal use, including as a gift. Please don't resell it or use it commercially. The photo you upload stays yours.
Bible text
The story retells Luke 2 for young children. Your child's part and a few small details are added, and the note for grown-ups at the back of the book says what was added.
Limits
We work hard to get every book right, and we'll put things right as described on our refunds page. Beyond that, to the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any order is limited to what you paid for it, and we aren't responsible for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer law.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and orders follow the terms in place when they were placed. These terms are governed by the laws of Florida, USA.
